What or whom is the most important thing in
your life?
Revelation 2:2-3 (NIV) I know your deeds, your
hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked
men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not,
and have found them false. [3] You have persevered and have endured
hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.
Rev. 2:4 (NKJV) Nevertheless I have this
against you, that you have left your first love.
Rev. 2:4 (NRSV) But I have this against you,
that you have abandoned the love you had at first.
Rev. 2:4 (NAB) Yet I hold this against you: you
have lost the love you had at first.
Rev. 2:4 (Living) "Yet there is one thing
wrong; you don't love me as at first!
Rev. 2:4 (GW) However, I have this against you:
The love you had at first is gone.
How do we lose, abandon or desert our first
love?
How do we turn things around?
How do we regain our first love?
Revelation 2:5 (NIV)
Remember
the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do
the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come
to you and remove your lampstand from its place.
Take an honest look at your life. Are you where
you once were regarding your love for Jesus?
If you are not where you need to be– repent!
Do the things you did at first!
What kinds of things do we do when we have a
first love or when love is young?
What drives you?
What are you passionate about?
What keeps you awake at night and awakens you
early in the morning?
Is developing your relationship with Jesus
constantly on your mind and heart?
Does your relationship with Jesus get
neglected, overlooked or ignored because of the cares of life?
How can you rekindle that love with Jesus so
that loving Jesus is your #1 priority?
Everything else can and eventually will be
taken away from us! The only thing we will take with us into eternity is
our relationship with Jesus!
If you’re pursuing the wrong things–now is the
time to repent and begin doing what young lovers do!
Have you forsaken your first love?
Is the love you first had for Jesus grown cold
or lukewarm?
Revelation 3:15-16 (NLT) "I know all the things
you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish you were one or the
other! [16] But since you are like lukewarm water, I will spit you out
of my mouth!
Remember, Repent and being doing what you did
at first!
As we fall more in love with Jesus– others will
be attracted to Him!
2 Corinthians 2:15 (NIV) For we are to God the
aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are
perishing.
Matthew 5:16 (NIV) In the same way, let your
light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise
your Father in heaven.
